A good rug is the one that is made of quality wool; whether it is made by hand or by machine does not matter. Either is a good investment, since quality wool will last longer and is easier to maintain. A quality wool rug can last thirty years or more.

Presently, it is possible to find machine made rugs made with high quality wool or synthetic fibres that are greatly superior to hand made rugs made with poor quality wool.

Note: A good synthetic fibre such as heat set polyester, can last up to twenty years.

As carpet experts in hand washing and repairs, we do not wash or repair poor quality hand made area rugs due to potential colour run (poor dyes), poor workmanship (weave) and poor quality wools. It is more cost effective to purchase a quality machine made rug with synthetic or wool fibres that will last longer and that will be easy to maintain.
